Aime Ann Duffy (born June 23, 1984 in Bangor, Gwynedd, Wales), known professionally as Duffy, is a Welsh singer-songwriter.
She debuted at number one on the UK Album Charts with her album Rockferry, so far, selling over 3.4 million copies worldwide.
Duffy is the first Welsh female to achieve a number one pop single in the past 25 years with her second single "Mercy".
Rockferry is the debut studio album by Welsh singer Duffy, first released on March 3, 2008 by Mercury Records in the US and Polydor Records in the UK.
Prior to releasing the album, Duffy appeared twice on Jools Holland's music show, performing the tracks "Mercy", "Warwick Avenue" and her version of "The First Cut Is the Deepest".
The album title Rockferry, according to Duffy, is loosely based on Rock Ferry, a suburb of Birkenhead, on the Wirral Peninsula and approximately 10 miles from the Welsh border and 3 miles from Liverpool.
